Chapter 1
by: Matthew
"What's that smell?" Avery asked as she sniffed the air.

"Hmm.. I'm going to check." Joey got out of his bed and slipped on his slippers. He followed the bitter smell to the kitchen. "Hello? Mom, Dad?" There he saw his parents lying on the floor. Joey dived to the ground and shook his dad. "Dad, are you there?"

No reply.

"Mom, hello?" Tears started to shed. Avery appeared out of the hallway. She was also crying.

"What happened?!" Joey shook his head.

Suddenly there was a ringing. "That's Mom's phone," Avery said. She pointed to the buzzing phone on the counter. Joey picked it up. He read the caller ID "Unknown Caller." Joey pressed the answer button.

"Hello?"

"If you want to hear from your parents, come to David Ave. House Number 54." He hung up.

"Wait, so if we want to hear from them, that means they are kidnapped, right?"

Avery nodded her head

"Then what is this?"

He pointed to his "parents".

Avery studied them for a moment. Suddenly Avery pulled back her arm and clenched her hand. She swung forward and white foam came spilling out.

"Let's go," they both said.

Chapter 2
by: Jason
Joey and Avery briskly ran down the street and turned at the corner. They halted to a stop in front of a dark house. The address was 54 David Avenue, the exact place they were told to come to. Joey opened the gate. Creak! Joey and Avery barely stepped onto the front step when the door suddenly closed without a single creak. Whoosh!

Joey paled. "What was that?" he asked his sister in a worried tone. She always seemed to have an answer.

Avery shrugged. "It was either the wind or a machine of some sort. Maybe there was a pressure plate on the front step that activated it."

Joey was still confused. He remembered that the gate had creaked when he had opened it, but didn't when it swung shut. "It wasn't a g-ghost, wasn't it?"

Avery didn't believe in ghosts. "It's nothing, Joey! Stop being a scaredy-cat." she assured him. "Anyway, the real problem is, how do we get Mom and Dad back?"

"Fine, let's go in then," he sighed, the gate still on his mind.

Avery opened the door to reveal a long, dark hallway filled with cobwebs. Slowly and carefully, they made their way to the end of the corridor, trying not to get stuck in the webs.
There was a gray door with flecks of black paint and a dusty handle. Some parts of the wooden door was missing. Joey cleared the dust away and opened the door.
This door revealed another hallway, even dirtier than the one before. They were halfway there when Avery tripped on piece of broken wood and fell to the ground with a thump.
"Avery, are you all right?" Joey asked.

Avery nodded. "I'm fine except for these cobwebs that I fell into. They're too sticky!" she cried.

Joey looked at the pile of white thread. "Here, let me try," he said. Then, he took out a pocketknife and began to cut the sticky thread, making sure not to cut Avery in the process.
A quarter of an hour later, he finished. Avery got up and they continued along the long corridor.
At the end of the hallway, they found a third door.

Joey sighed. "Do you think this is going to end?" he asked Avery.
She swatted her brother's arm. "Be quiet! Just open the door," she told him.

When Joey opened the door, they found a small desk. On the desk was a piece of paper. Joey picked it up and read it out loud.
The note read,"Too late! Find me at 98 Wood Street. Be quick this time or else you'll never see your parents again!"

Joey and Avery looked at each other with shocked expressions and wondered,"How will we get out of this mess?"

Chapter 3
by: Justin
Joey grabbed Avery's arm and rushed out the door, into the Wood Street neighborhood. The dark, grim street made them shudder with fear.
"Is this a scavenger hunt and people are pranking us?" Joey asked Avery.

"Of course not, Joey. Things have gone too serious to be a prank!" Avery scolded Joey. They walk to the front door, the "garden" actually a graveyard, with words on the gravestones that they could not understand. The old, shabby door that Avery was "supposed" to open herself actually opened by itself, them not knowing who was behind it.

"Was that a g-ghost again?" Joey asked Avery with a lower voice.

"Haven't we already gone through this?" Avery said in an annoyed tone. A sign on the door that just "appeared" said, Do Not Enter, or you shall perish!

"Maybe you're right," Avery slowly said right before the old shabby door howled like a brown werewolf.

"We better get out of here!" Joey screamed and then pulled Avery's arm. But then, the door closed shut on them. Joey uses his "amazing" strength to try to open the door. He couldn't.

"What are we going to do!" Avery screamed at Joey. Then, they saw a shadow, and that shadow grabbed them.

"HELP US!" they both screamed in unison before he covered their mouths. The next thing they knew, they were out cold!

Chapter 4
by: Tyler
Joey opened his eyes, he and Avery were in a dark room. Both he and Avery's hands and legs were tied together.

"Avery, wake up!" Joey told his sister, Avery opened her eyes suddenly.

"Joey, is that you?" she asked,

"Yeah, I'm right next to you," Joey replied. "How did we get here and where are we?"

"I don't know, but let's get out of here," Avery replied. The two searched on the ground until they found a broken bottle. They used the glass to cut the tape off of their hands and legs. They could move around now. They searched until they found a door on the far side of the room, it was locked.

"How will we get this door open?" Avery asked,

"We break it down," Joey said. They got a couple old and broken bricks and began pounding on the door. After about 30 more minutes, they broke the door. They were standing in another spooky hallway. They went to the end and found another door. They went through that door and ended up in another hallway.

"This is like a maze," said Joey, complaining, "How will we get out?"

"We just try to find the door that leads outside," said Avery. After about an hour and a half more of looking for the door that leads outside and getting stuck in cobwebs, they finally recognized a hallway.

"Look Avery," said Joey, "This is the door that leads outside, we're free!" Suddenly, Avery, felt a cold, bony hand on her shoulder.

Chapter 5
by: Victoria
"Joey get your hand off of my shoulder."

"It's not me, Avery. I'm over here." Joey yelled.

"Uhh...."

"Why?" Joey calls out.

As Joey turned around there was a tall figure standing behind Avery.
"Avery?"

"Wha- AAHHHHH!"

"Come with me if you want to see your parents again."

"Nope!" Joey yelled. "Not this time you've sent us to too many places already. Come on Avery we have to go look for mom and dad..."

"I'm going with the man, Joey." Avery replied. "What if they have our parents?

"What if they don't?"

"What if they do?"

"Why do you always win this game? Come on, let's go."

Chapter 6
by: Jade
While Avery and Joey walked with the person, they noticed that they were in a very dark and spooky corridor and decided to turn around.
"Ummmmmm. Avery, I'm getting a little creeped out," said Joey.

"Joey, stop being such a scaredy cat!" yelled Avery.

Joey turned around one more time, but this time, there was a tall man dressed in black with a brown sack.
"Avery, watch out! Run for your life!" screams Joey.
Joey took out his pocket knife and tackled the man to the ground.
Avery still ran and followed the weird thing.
She was taken to a very dark room and another man tried to grab her. She ran away, screaming as loudly as she could.
When she had gotten back to Joey, he had already knocked out the tall man. Avery looked behind her.
No one was there.
Avery and Joey sighed in relief as they opened the creaking door.
And the police were already outside.

Chapter 7
by: Matthew, Jason, Justin, Tyler, Victoria, Jade, Mala, and Andrew
"Stop right there!" a policeman, probably the leader of the group shouted. "You! Aren't you the ones who called us? Said you needed help with something, right?"

"We didn't call you," Avery tried to explain, but he cut her off.

"You didn't call me?! YOU DIDN'T CALL ME?!?! Then you prank called us! We will have to put you through trial because you are under arrest for prank calling your local police force!" he screamed. Now what would they do? Then, Joey remembered something.

"Avery, remember the phone call we got and the foam parents?!" Joey asked her.

"Ummm, yeah, but how's that going to help us?" Avery replied.

"Just follow my lead, and we'll go through it," Joey assured Avery. She agreed, and they went right to it!

Joey led Avery and the police back to their house. The foam parents were still lying on the floor, a big chunk scooped out of them. Avery inspected them carefully while Joey explained the situation to the police.

"You see, officer, we didn't prank call you. We found these fake foam bodies, painted as our parents, on the floor. Then, we were told to go to multiple houses, including the house you found us at," Joey said.

Avery looked into every little corner of the bodies, touching them. Then, she accidentally pushed them to the side, revealing a trapdoor. Joey gasped.

"How did you know that was there?" he asked her, shocked at this revelation.

Avery's eyes were as big as saucers. "I didn't! I accidentally pushed them to the side!" she exclaimed. Turning to Joey, she questioned her brother,"What do we do now?"

Joey wore an expression of grim determination. "We find our parents of course."

"Umm officers, we have to go find our parents." said Avery.

" Sorry, you're going to have to come with us. You are part of a crime scene," said the police officer.

"Uh oh," whispered Avery and Joey.

Joey quickly ran into action. He flipped the trapdoor open and jumped down it, yelling,"Avery, come down before they catch you!" Avery followed.

"Aargh!" the head policeman shouted. "Those darn kids!"

They landed on their feet and surprisingly, didn't break their ankles. The hole actually turned out to be a small one. At the bottom of the pit, there was a rotting wooden door.

"Ouch!" Joey said "That really hurt"

" Stop being a wimp, where is the handle?" Avery asked.

Joey inspected the door. "There isn't one. I think we have to break away the rotting wood."

Slowly, the siblings broke away part of the rotting wood, exposing a large enough hole that they could climb through. Joey and Avery climbed through the hole to find their parents tied up with tape on the other side.

"Mom, Dad!" Avery shouted. Their parents stared at them, dazed. Tears started to shed. Joey's tears blurred his eyesight as he took out his pocketknife once again and freed their parents.

They all embraced one another in a group hug when they heard a voice. "No! How did they find me?"

Joey and Avery looked around searching for the speaker. Avery spotted a figure in the shadows. "There!" she cried, pointing to the figure.

The figure rose out of the shadows. It was the tall man dressed in black! He was holding a large bag. Avery and Joey gasped.

Joey yelled at him,"I knocked you out! How did you even get here?!"

His dad mumbled something then passed out.

The man smiled. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you anymore. I only came here to rob you." His voice matched the one on the phone with the Unknown Caller ID! He pointed to the bag. "You see this? This holds all of your possessions."

Joey and Avery gritted their teeth. "So that's why you sent us on a wild goose chase!" Avery screamed.

The man nodded and said sarcastically,"Wow, you're so smart!"

Avery was furious. First, he kidnapped their parents, then sent them everywhere? She tackled the man to the ground mercilessly.

Joey and his parents stared at Avery, scared. They had never seen her like that before. Then, they heard a deep voice behind them. "So, this is the real criminal," the policeman said.

Joey nodded his head furiously. "Yes, it is!"

The policeman sighed. "We apologize for accusing you. Please follow me, there is a ladder in that hole now."

Avery relinquished her grip on the robber as soon as the policeman took hold of him.

They all went back through the hole in the rotting door and found a rope ladder. Avery, Joey, and their parents climbed it first before the head police officer and the robber climbed up. At the top, the robber was handcuffed and sent to the police station with all the police officers except the leader.

The head policeman faced them, grinning evilly. He reached for his face. Then, he started to peel off his skin! He threw the mask to the side and revealed his true face.

"I am Jerry, the world's most famous robber! Back down before me or I'll tell the police to put you in jail for assaulting that man little girl " the policeman cried.

Avery started to laugh. "You? A guy named Jerry is the best robber in the world? Ha! You must be joking!" Soon, everyone but Jerry was doubling over in laughter.

Jerry's face grew bright red. "I'll show you how a real robber robs!" he shouted as he took the bag of stolen possessions and ran off.

Joey and Avery called the ambulance and they took their dad who was severely injured. Their mom was hurt a little bit, but healthy enough to take care of them.

"No, you are not going to follow that robber," their mom said.

"We have to!" Avery whined.

"This is something that you don't need to meddle in." Their mom walked away into the hallway. There was complete silence.

"What does that mean?" Joey asked, puzzled.

"Mom is hiding something from us," Avery replied standing up from her chair. Joey opened the cupboard and pulled out a snack. It was a M&M pack.

"Ew, hasn't that thing been sitting in there for a while?"

"Candy is always good," said Joey munching down the chocolate. Joey finished the M&Ms and threw them away.

"Did you feel that?!" Avery exclaimed.

"What?" Joey said

(Boom)

"That!" Avery said.

"I don't know!" Joey replied.

The trapdoor disappeared and some tiles started glowing blue.

"What's going on here?!" their mom said. Then she gasped. "What have you done?!"

"You answer Mom, what's going on here?" Mom wouldn't reply. Instead she opened the "Forbidden to open cupboard" and moved some cups around. The glowing disappeared.

"Well, I guess I will have to tell you the story," Mom sighed.

(The next day)

"Avery, Joey," The two woke up. "This is the story I was meaning to tell you. Joey and Avery sat up right away.

"Tell us," Avery said.

"Well, okay, your father and I, are not Joey's real parents, so you two are actually not siblings, but cousins," Joey and Avery suddenly became still. "Your parents and I are magicians. And you Joey, your parents were killed by that man Jerry, Jerry is not only a robber, but a murderer magician too, a legitimate business man, an entrepreneur and sometimes a clown to kill people while they are at the circus. Jerry was posed as a clown when he killed your parents. It was 1998, and your real parents and we were at the circus. It was during the intermission when the murder happened. We were walking through Staples Center when a big group of police officers tackled a group of men holding weapons. In the diversion, Joey, who then was a baby was dropped, then Jerry used his magic and killed everyone in the incident, including your parents who were accidentally tackled. Later, we found you and picked Joey up. When we got everything sorted out we flash backed to the incident using magic. We investigated the scene in a 3-D spectrum and saw Jerry on the floor inside using the force aspect of magic, which can kill people from far distances. That's the reason why I didn't let you go, he's very dangerous."

Joey was crying to here that he never remembered his real parents. Avery was not as overwhelmed, but still very sad.

"Until your magic comes out, we cannot let you near Jerry. This also what your father was trying to say, before he died."

"He died!" they both said.

"Yes, I was meaning to tell you that another day, but it slipped out of my-.." She started crying.

Meanwhile, Jerry was watching from his building Ben Enterprise watching this unfold.

"My plan is working, next I need to give them a big blow, they'll be stranded, and those kids will be mine to use to rule this world."

"Agent's 1, 2, 3, Beta 3, and Alpha 3, take out Angelina, the mom." Jerry turned around in his spinning chair and gazed at the city he thought he was about to rule.

Joey was reading his book while Avery was looking up everything she could about the "incident" and magicians in the real world.

"Joey, come look at this!" Avery said

"Stop being such a know-it-all and enjoy yourself."

"Just come up!" she screamed.

"I'm coming," Joey said, moseying up the stairs.

"No, the internet went down!" she yelled. Then suddenly, the lights went out.

"Kids, we got some intruders!" There was a burst at the door and men holding weapons came in.

"Everyone in this household, come to the door and we won't hurt you!"

Mom appeared out into the room. She was holding two necklaces, two sticks and a key.

"Take this stuff and wear it, those keys are for the car house and some bank notes."

"What's going on!" Avery said

"Go, get out of here and get as far from here as possible!"

"But-"

"Hurry!"

She flicked a lamp on, then off 6 times, then a passage appeared out of nowhere.

"Get in and drive the car and get out!"

"What about you?!" Joey said

"Meet me at the Donut Shop," their mom said, now urging them to leave. Joey pulled Avery into the passage.

When they landed they were in a garage they have never seen before. In the middle was a Ferrari Scundia, painted black.

"Joey, do you know how to drive at all?"

"Sort of, like I have a learners' permit and I play a lot of driving games and-"

"Get in!"

A button on the dashboard said "Push to open garage." Joey pushed it and an explosion was heard outside. A wall crumbled. Then Joey held down on the gas and sped through the hole.

"Now, try to blend in and don't drive too fast and swerve."

"Okay," Joey replied.

They were passing on David Avenue, heading to Wood Street. Then, there was a police stop.

"No, I'm not eligible to drive without an adult!"

"Oh no, today is Fourth of July, I almost forgot, they're checking to see if you are DUI!"

As they slowed down, the officer signaled for them to pull over for an inspection.

"What do we do?!" Joey said, now panicking.

"Stay calm, I'll explain the inci-"

Joey stepped on the gas and ran over the police man. He crushed cones and flipped a motorcycle over. Police behind him were shooting and people were chasing after them. "What are you doing?!" Joey didn't answer and he was reaching 205 miles per hour. Suddenly, sirens appeared in front of them. It was a roadblock.

"Stop, Joey!" Joey went even faster. The world outside them was just blurry light. Policemen were jumping out of their cars. Joey ran over a fence and crashed into a police car. Policemen shot at the window, but the bullets just bounced off harmlessly. "Mom made this car shielded against everything!" Joey yelled. He put the car on reverse and went around the police car.

They were now heading to the bay area. Avery turned on the news on the radio. "A high speed chase is occurring right now. A black Ferrari is heading to the bay. A humongous roadblock with big cars are waiting for them at the end of the one way freeway, more updates are coming, stay tuned."

"Joey, what do we do!"

"I don't know!? Your the smart one, you think!"

"Mom says we have magical powers, let's use them."

The roadblock was coming. Joey was slowing down like he was going to stop. Police cars were approaching and men were walking to the doors to cuff them.

"So use the powers now!" Joey screamed.

"How do you use them, though?" Avery said. Joey slapped his forehead.

"Until you figure it out," he said "I'm pushing it." He pressed on the pedal and the car started accelerating. The policemen walking ran away, while more police cars were coming to ram them.

(Boom)
"We're hit!"

(Boom)
"Joey, drive!"

The airbags went up.
"I guess this is it," Joey said.

"No, not even close!" Avery started moving her hands. Then, blue magic started to form.

Avery closed her eyes and focused. She started to control the wind outside. Avery willed the wind to knock down the policemen.

Joey stared at Avery. How was she doing it? Maybe he had some powers of his own! He took the same position as Avery and waved his hands, willing the car would fly above the blockade. Then, the car jolted as it left the ground. Joey snapped out of his concentration.

Avery with her eyes closed, yelled,"Make it fly, Joey!"

Joey tried to keep his surprise under control as he lifted the car into the air, higher and higher, until they were carefully concealed in the clouds. Still controlling the car, he flew it to the place Joey and Avery were going to meet Avery's mom. They touched down on the parking lot of a donut shop their mom said to go to.

The police lost them and they were free. The sun was arising over the dock and ships came in to the harbor.

"Do you have any money, Avery? I'm getting hungry."

"I still have the bank notes."

"Lets turn them into the bank!"

"No, they're not going to accept bank notes from kids."

"Then let's magically turn to an adult," Joey said excitedly.

"How are we going to do that?" Avery says with her arms crossed.

"It's all in your head, you have to believe," Joey said with his eyes closed.

"Yeah, that totally makes sense," Avery said rolling her eyes. Joey started turning blue, then green, then red. Then the colors faded.

He was gone.

"Where did he go?" Avery thought, as she frantically searched through the alley where he disappeared.

When Joey opened his eyes, he was standing in a office. Through a large window he saw the city. Suddenly a chair turned around.

It was Jerry. He looked at Joey then turned away. "What?! How did he not see me?" Joey thought. He looked at himself to find that he was invisible.

"I'll try using my powers to reach Joey," Avery thought. "He said that you need to "believe" so I'll "believe" and reach him." She closed her eyes and said,"Go to Joey." She heard a whoosh by her ear. She opened her eyes to find herself in her house. Avery saw the men that raided their home carrying her mom away. "No!" she screamed but no one heard her. Avery ran across the hallway and tried grabbing Mom. Her hands passed through the body. "What?" she thought. Then another whoosh and she was standing next to Joey who jumped up when he saw her. They both were still invisible.

"Mom's dead," she said

"What!"

"I had some sort of vision and saw the men carrying her away."

They both started crying. Right in front of Jerry. The tears hit Avery's leg which then turned that part of her leg visible. The same thing happened to Joey. Then it started spreading. After about 10 seconds Jerry was looking at them. He laughed.

"I knew you would come!"

They didn't reply. Joey lifted his hands up.

"What are you gonna do, shoot me?"

"Exactly." A burst of blue shot out of his hands and blew Jerry out the window. Joey turned around and started to walk out the door.

"Joey!" Avery pointed to Jerry who was floating out the window.

"Joey, I am your real father," Jerry said.

"What?!" he said. Joey lifted both hands up and shot two blue beams. Jerry moved his hands sideways and the beams turned and demolished the walls. The two went back and forth. Rubble was everywhere. While the two were fighting, Avery was trying to do the same thing, but she couldn't. It was as if she didn't have the same power Joey had.

"Avery, help out!" Joey said.

"I can't," she said. Joey blasted again, he hit the building next to Jerry's office building. The other building fell, knocking over Jerry's building. The building wobbled and started to fall. Jerry, still floating stood there, blasted Joey sending him tumbling down. Avery jumped. She grabbed Joey and closed her eyes knowing that she was a goner when they hit the floor.

However the impact never came. She opened her eyes to see that they were floating.

"Joey!" she said

"We're alive!" he screamed. A blast came sending rubble into the air.

"Maybe this is your power?" Joey said grinning.

"B-"

"Get me up there so we can have a even match," Joey said

"Okay," Avery nodded.

Joey stood on top of Avery. She started to glide like a bird. However, Joey's aiming was a problem.

"Hit him!" Avery yelled.

"I can't!"

"Even I could do better!" Avery yelled back.

"We need a new move! Land!" Avery faced down heading to a pile of broken bricks. When they landed Joey thought of some moves.

"Maybe a move were I explode all around me that sends the blue out"

"They you'll hurt me," Avery rolled her eyes. Another blast rattled.

"How about a missile move that follows him?"

"That's better!" Avery clapped sarcastically.

"Let's go," Joey said.

"There you guys are," Jerry said. "I was looking for you"

"Joey, use your power" Avery said.

Joey did a pushing gesture and three blue circled headed right towards Jerry.

"What-" the circles slammed into Jerry sending him flying into a building, then falling down motionless slamming into a pile of rubble. Avery flew down onto the rubble.

"We got you and foiled your plan" Avery said

"Wait, I am your father Joey, I was almost killed by a fake me"

Joey and Avery were confused.

"So either way you killed someone though," Joey asked.

"I created clones of myself. But some person turned them evil and freed them. One of them killed your mom, Joey."

"Why would you then send men to kill my mom?" Avery asked.

"Because, your mom was one of the suspects of evillizing the clones."

"You have no proof," Avery yelled.

"Avery, your power is called, psychic, Joey your style of magic is attack. Use it wisely," Jerry closed his eyes. Avery started crying.

"Let's get out before the police come." Joey picked up Avery and carried her away. Jerry's body started to be surrounded by swirly, little, white sparks. Joey turned around. The little sparks picked up Jerry and carried him away into the sky.

The two kids watched this in great denial, but soon decided to accept the truth and walked along each other, vowing to have revenge on the evil clones that destroyed their parents.
